High Table at Churchill College

High Table

Alumni and former Fellows are entitled to join members of the Fellowship at High Table. Alumni may dine on up to four occasions per year at College expense and additionally at their own expense; past Fellows will have been notified of their entitlements by the Registrar (please contact registrar@chu.cam.ac.uk if you are uncertain).

You may bring up to two guests on each occasion, or more by prior arrangement with the presiding Fellow. Guests count towards your entitlement of four meals per year; that is to say, a Member could dine without a guest four times a year, or dine twice with one guest on each occasion, or dine once with three guests, or any combination that adds up to four. The evening includes the meal, with wine, sherry reception and port and coffee afterwards, as described below. The dress code is lounge suit; gowns are optional and alumni may wear the gown of their highest Cambridge degree if they wish. Gowns of other universities, scarlets, and decorations are worn only on special occasions at Churchill.

Fellows, alumni and their guests gather from 7pm in the Senior Common Room (SCR) for a glass of sherry and alumni should introduce themselves and their guest(s) to the presiding Fellow. Dinner begins at 7.30pm prompt. If invited by a Fellow to join the company after dinner, other drinks taken in the Senior Common Room (SCR) should be signed for by writing your name on the list. Unused entitlements may not be carried forward to the next year.

Bookings can be made by using the Alumni High Table Booking System, at least seven days in advance of the dinner. At least one Fellow must be present to preside, otherwise High Table will not take place.
