Churchill International Societies

What are Churchill International Societies?

Churchill International Societies exist to help the College and the Association to stay in touch with Non-Resident Members and organise events to keep alumni & Past Fellows involved particularly if they have lost touch or do not have the opportunity to visit the College on a regular basis. It is also intended for these Societies to maintain regular contact with the Alumni Relations Office and the Association Committee.

Each Society has a President and if at all possible a Secretary who may assist the President in some of the administrative tasks involved although this is by no means necessary.

The President and Secretary should stay in touch with the Alumni Relations Officer and Association Committee (via the Alumni Relations Officer) on a regular basis.

The President (and Secretary if applicable) will be invited each year to the Association Annual Dinner as a guest of the Association Committee and will be provided accommodation by the College.

What should the President of a Society do?

• Keep in touch with alumni in their country via email (and by phone) using a Churchillians.net email address (e.g. China.President@churchillians.net). N.B. Emails to this address will be forwarded to a personal email account of the President’s and/or Secretary’s choice.

• Maintain a mailing list which should be shared mutually with the Alumni Relations Office in College.

• Act as Country representative for the Association Committee and assist a Committee Member (e.g. organising an event/gathering) should he/she be travelling there. In addition, to promote membership of the Association and support the activity of the Alumni Relations Office at Churchill College.

• Organise at least one event in their country on an annual basis.

• Actively research the ‘lost alumni’ in their country with names provided by the Alumni Relations Office.

• Provide content for the Society’s pages on Churchill Online.

• Write a small piece annually for either the Newsletter or Review.

• Provide brief event/activity reports to be included in the Alumni E-Bulletin.
