What is Churchillians.net and "email forwarding"?

An email forwarding service for non-resident members of Churchill College, Cambridge. Email forwarding is similar to an email address but with the crucial property that it will not change as you change jobs, move house, change ADSL or cable provider, etc. An email-for-life address is the kind of address you should give to your friends and family because it will always work and messages will always reach you. You should also print an address-for-life on your business cards, Christmas cards, etc. The churchillians.net address is suitable for each of these purposes and is free of any terms-and-conditions that might restrict your freedom to use it as you wish. You need a "normal" email address to forward your messages to (which might be a gmail address, your email address at work, one at home, or wherever you wish). If you want to change where your messages are forwarded, simply return to this website, enter the new destination, and emails sent to your churchillians.net messages will flow to your new address.

I am about to graduate, how do I set up my Churchillians.net address?

You will be sent an email to your College account during the Summer term preceding your graduation which contains instructions to set up your account using Raven. If you do not receive this, please email alumni@chu.cam.ac.uk or visit Churchillians.net now and sign up.

What is Raven?

Raven is the central web authentication service provided by the University Computing Service. Graduating students should already have a login for this however, if you do not, please visit raven.cam.ac.uk.

How soon will my account be available?

You will have access within 24 hours assuming your relationship with the College has been verified. Should this not be possible at the time of registration, you will be contacted by the Alumni Relations Office, typically within 72 hours.

How do I access my account details?

Visit the homepage and login as an existing user.

How do I change my password?

You can change your details by logging on to Churchillians.net.

I have forgotten my password and/or username, what do I do?

Click on the forgotten password and/or username link on the homepage.

I have a hotmail account as my Churchillians.net forwarding address, and I am not receiving Churchillians.net emails. Why?

Hotmail by default deletes mail it considers spam, and also by default considers mail from mailing lists as spam (and it views Churchillians.net as a mailing list). Therefore, hotmail users should carry out the following checks:

• Go to the hotmail account and click on the Options link.
• You should go to the 'Mail Options' section. Click on 'Junk E-Mail Protection', then click the 'Delete Junk E-Mail' link.
• Be sure to check the option 'Deliver to Junk E-Mail folder and delete later' if it is not already selected.
• Click 'Ok'.
• Then click on 'Safe List'.
• Add Churchillians.net via the box provided; this should add @churchillians.net to your list.

I have a gmail or googlemail account as my Churchillians.net forwarding address, and I am not receiving Churchillians.net emails when I test the account from gmail (or googlemail). Why?

We don't know for certain why gmail or googlemail by default does not deliver to its own inbox any emails that have been sent from that account back to itself via a forwarding service like Churchillians.net. Your test mails to Churchillians.net from your gmail account will fail - you will get no mail in your inbox and no error message. All other Churchillians.net emails should come through to your gmail account just fine. Therefore, please perform tests on your account from some other email address. [The same happens for cantab.net forwarding.]

Can I search for the address of my peers?

Yes, you can search for your peers on the Contact System. Email addresses and contact details are shown unless people chose to withhold the information.

Are there any mailing lists?

Yes, it's coming soon! Until it is launched, you can search for your friends using the Contact System.

I have just configured email-for-life and I cannot log back in. Why?

Your username is now your Churchillians.net email address: configuring email-for-life also gives you single sign-on to all of the benefits available to Churchill Alumni at Churchillians.net.
