Churchill College in Still Life

Storey's Way Entrance
The main entrance into College from Storey's Way leads over the bridge which divides the two ponds. The architect's plans for the College had the ponds filled with black dye to give a dark surface in which the College would be reflected in daytime sunlight. Maintaining the dye was expensive and the water was transformed into fish ponds, home to some 800 carp. Recently, the ponds were reverted to the architect's design.
